ANTI-CORRUPTION INTERNATIONAL VIGILANCE COUNCIL

Anti-Corruption International Vigilance Council is established with the objective of promoting transparency, accountability, integrity, ethical governance and the rule of law.

The Council seeks to create greater awareness among citizens regarding corruption-related issues, anti-corruption laws, legal rights and the lawful mechanisms available for addressing public grievances.

Our approach is centred on public awareness, legal literacy, preventive vigilance, citizen empowerment, research, documentation and policy advocacy.

We believe that an informed and responsible citizenry can play an important role in strengthening transparency and accountability in society.

OUR PURPOSE

The Council works towards creating awareness and encouraging responsible civic participation in matters relating to:

OUR APPROACH

We focus on awareness and lawful guidance rather than enforcement.

The Council may educate and guide citizens regarding appropriate procedures for submitting complaints, representations and documentation before competent statutory authorities.

Where a matter requires investigation, prosecution, adjudication or statutory action, the concerned citizen is directed towards the appropriate legally constituted authority.

CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT

A major focus of our work is to help citizens understand their rights, responsibilities and available lawful mechanisms.

Through awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, legal literacy initiatives and community outreach, we seek to encourage citizens to participate responsibly in promoting transparency and accountability.

RESEARCH & KNOWLEDGE

The Council seeks to undertake research, surveys, documentation and studies relating to governance, corruption awareness, preventive vigilance and public accountability.

Research findings and observations may be used to promote public awareness and develop appropriate recommendations for strengthening transparency and good governance.

WORKING WITH STAKEHOLDERS

The Council may engage with relevant stakeholders, including civil society organisations, educational institutions, legal professionals, governance experts and other appropriate organisations, for lawful awareness and educational initiatives.

Such engagement is intended to strengthen public awareness and encourage constructive participation in matters of transparency and accountability.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION

The Anti-Corruption International Vigilance Council does not exercise police, arrest, investigative or adjudicatory powers.

The Council does not replace any Government department, police authority, vigilance authority, court, commission or other statutory body.

Any guidance or facilitation provided by the Council is intended to assist citizens in understanding lawful procedures and approaching the appropriate competent authority.
